The Boston Celtics are one of the most storied franchises in professional sports. Founded in 1946, the Celtics 16 NBA titles are the most of any NBA team and their 8 consecutive titles from 1959-1966 is the most by any professional sports team in North America. The Boston Celtics returned to prominence in 1979 with the arrival of Larry Bird and proceeded to win 3 more NBA titles. Since the end of the Bird Era, the Celtics have struggled until 2008 with the arrival of Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen.
