 In the 14 years that the Indians moved from the cavernous Municipal Stadium on Lake Erie to their sparkling gem of a ballpark smack dab in the middle of the revived Gateway District, the Tribe has entertained us with memorable games, magical moments, and the 'Golden Era' of baseball in Cleveland...which is saying wuite a bit when you consider that the franchise was founded in 1901.  The team now, however, more than ever is a team that has captured the hearts and the imagination of a city desperate for a winner (quick to embrace or forgive) as the Indians of the 1990s and 2000s have compiled a record that few can match around MLB.
 
Of course, in this 'Golden Era' one thing remains elusive - that coveted World Series trophy that has eluded Cleveland since 1948.  Whether it was Willie Mays' catch at the Polo Grounds that set the tone for the 1954 championship, the historically great 1995 offensive team with Thome and Manny batting at the bottom of the order that came up just short, Jose Mesa blowing Game 7 in 1997, or the most recent collapse of 2007 - the Indians live in a world of thisclose and 'we'll get them next year'.  But, in Cleveland, hope springs eternal for our Tribe...with hope that this year HAS to be the year.
