Lollapalooza is one of the premiere music festivals in the world featuring artists from alternative rock, hip hop, and punk rock bands, dance and comedy performances. Lollapolooza was created in 1991 by Perry Farrell of Jane's Addiction as a farewell tour for his band. However, Lollapalooza ran annually until 1997 and quickly became a mainstay of youth culture in the '90s. In 2003, Lollapolooza was revived but poor tickets sales quickly put Lollapalooza as a touring festival to an end. In 2005, the music festival was retooled into its current format as a weekend destination festival in Grant Park in Chicago. Chicago is now the home of Lollapalooza and hundreds of thousands mucis fans head to the city each year.
